Good Fences and Good Fences Too

Lately I've been producing pixel paintings in Photoshop. I  enjoy working in an abstract style, but all too often I'll stop and tell myself ...well, you are not an abstract painter. Now I don't know why I feel such timidity or would place such needless restrictions on myself... I would certainly bristle if anyone else offered the opinion that I should not indulge in a little abstraction from time to time.

This work is actually quite challenging and falls apart when I try to just phone it in. However, I can move through the project fairly rapidly, working through the layers and deleting missteps with a refreshing ease. It is the metaphorical difference between taking a dip in a pool or organizing a transoceanic voyage.

Very peculiar... I reckon if I'm enjoying myself and get a kick out of the results, that is enough thinking for one day. I'm posting two paintings, formatted at 18 x 24" at 150 PPI or pixels per square inch. I based this work on a tarot card, the Four of Pentacles... but that's another story.
