Fuji Friday...Valentine Fuji

Every February 14th, since 1986 the citizens of Portland, Maine have awakened to find their city's downtown festooned with hundreds of red hearts printed on standard white office paper. The hearts are taped to shop fronts, lamp posts, statues... on anything that will stand still, as they say. Adding to the general merriment, an extraordinarily large white banner with a red heart has, for a decade or so, been unfurled from the roof of the Portland Museum of Art. No one knows who the "Valentine Phantom" might be... the mystery is half the fun.

Although storm clouds are gathering to the south and west on this February 13th, 2015 and Portland braces for yet another blizzard... it is reassuring to know that on the morning of February 14th neither rain, nor wind, nor Polar Vortex will have kept the Forest City's favorite pranksters from their appointed rounds.
